Великі собори світу будувалися та прикрашалися не роками, а десятиліттями, а навіть століттями. Так знаменитий собор в Кельні над Рейном у Німеччині будувався не мало не багато 700 років. Щось подібного модна сказати і про Собор Паризької Божої Матері та про інші визначні храми во славу Господа Ісуса Христа, Пресвятої Богородиці та християнських святих.

Наш Собор Непорочного Зачаття Пресвятої Богородиці в Філадельфії належить до числа великих за святістю. Його заснування пов'язане з діяльністю нашого великого Митрополита Амврозія Сенишина. Завдяки чудовому плану Собору, опрацьованому архітектором Юліяном Естремським, собор споруджено в рекордні три роки, 1963-1966, у стилі, який наближає його до великого храму Святої Софії в Константинополі, також спорудженого швидко, у 532-537 роках за імператора Візантії Юстина Великого. Але оздоблення Константинопольського собору мозаїкою та фресками тривало набагато довше. Так само нашого Собору в Філадельфії. Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, Philadelphia
Philadelphia is more than the "City of Brotherly Love." It's a city of shrines, two American saints and two Catholic cathedrals.
The one Roman Catholics often miss — but shouldn't — is the Ukrainian Catholic Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary.
It was only on my most recent visit to Philadelphia that 1 finally discovered this remarkable cathe¬dral, with its resplendent Byzantine mosaics and icons. The cathedral humbly commands a quiet' side street just four blocks from the National Shrine of St. John Neumann. Even though it's near the heart of the city, park-like grounds with trees and shrubbery surround it. The cathedral is the seat of the Metropolitan Archeparchy of Philadelphia.
Once I discovered the cathedral's whereabouts, my eyes immediately homed in on its gigantic gold dome, reflecting the spring sunlight like a small star. Venetian tile, made up of 22-carat gold fused to glass, covers the dome's exterior.

The Artist’s PathShe began her artistic journey at the age of five, and the pastels and charcoal have not left her hands since. In 1951, Christine Dochwat was a recent graduate of Saint Basil Academy who debated what career path she wanted to follow. Today, she is a leading iconographer whose works have ornamented over 80 churches throughout the world.
Christine Dochwat was born in Ukraine on September 22, 1934 and emigrated to the United States in 1947, but she still vividly remembers her homeland. "1 still dream of running through the wheat fields as a small child, with the wheat waving above my head," Christine reminisced on a recent visit to Saint Basil Academy. As a high school student, Christine stayed connected with her heritage through participating in SBA's Ukrainian cultural opportunities, such as the Ukrainian Dance Club. Upon graduation, she began her artistic studies at the Ringiing Museum of Art in Sarasota, Florida and then moved back to Philadelphia to attend the University of the Arts. As a college senior, she worked as an artist for Gimbel's Float Parade and was mentioned in the Philadelphia Inquirer as "Christine Dochwat, Ukrainian student artist".
